Forest Chi Wild Walk: The Wild Open Moor
What is Forest Chi?
Forest Chi is Tai Chi, nature awareness exercises and mindfulness all rolled into one. Individually, these three ingredients are powerful tools for transforming and healing our lives and when combined, the end result is greater than the sum of its parts! The way that being out in nature lifts the spirits combined with the health benefits of Tai Chi and the mindful attentiveness to our movements and surroundings can be a powerful catalyst for a healthier and happier life.
Event Description
The moorland above Okehampton is wide open with fantastic views across North Dartmoor, with the Red a Ven brook dissecting the landscape and bordered by pockets of woodland.
We will walk for a maximum of two miles, using tracks and across grassland. There will be some moderate slopes and uneven ground. We will make stops along the way to tune in with the landscape, with Tai Chi moves, nature connection exercises and times of stillness.
The walk will finish at midday, with the option of staying longer for a picnic and a swim (weather permitting).
What to bring:
This is an outdoor event high on Dartmoor so please bring clothing suitable for the weather. It can be windy so warm, waterproof and windproof layers are essential. (even if it feels warm down in the town). Bring footwear suitable for uneven and possibly wet ground. A flask with hot drink is recommended or if a hot day, bring plenty of water and a sun hat as we will be on the open moor and exposed to the elements. Bring something to sit on such as a carry mat. If you plan to stay on after the event bring a picnic and swim stuff if you plan to swim.
Please note, changes to the location are possible in the event of very windy or wet weather.
