Guided walk at Bellever with Forestry England
Event Description:
Explore beautiful Bellever Forest with a guided walk and talk with Forestry England’s community ranger, Shaun Woodward.
Shaun will introduce the history of sustainable forest management in the UK and how
Forestry England manages the nation’s forests and woodlands for timber, wildlife, and
people. We’ll explore how forestry is managed on Dartmoor and what challenges the future holds for our forests. There will lots of chances to ask questions.
We recommend bringing binoculars if you have them, as there is plenty of wildlife to spot along the way.
Date: Saturday 30th August 2025 / Thursday 4th September 2025
Time: 10am - 1pm
Length: 2-4 miles depending on how many questions and discussions take place
Start location: Bellever Forest, Postbridge car park (Sat Nav PL20 6TH).

Guide: Shaun Woodward is Forestry England’s community ranger for the Dartmoor, Plymouth and Mid Devon areas. Shaun helps to care for over 4 000 hectares from small community woodlands to larger forests like Bellever and Fernworthy.
With a background in hospitality and the police, Shaun is a people person with a passion for visitor enjoyment, as well as protecting and improving habitats for all the creatures that call the forests their home.
